Patient name: Clive Harrison

Patient age: 13

Affliction: “Endless Sleep”

Symptoms: The patient has been asleep for about 3 days.  He has a steady breath pattern and steady pulse.  No sign of stress.

Face to Face

A world that is the third planet from its star contains a race of sentient insects; let’s call them Sectoids.  Their planet is beautiful.  Plant life gives it its green color.  The oceans take up a vast amount of its surface.  The sectoids built their cities only on and within mountains.  They take resources from the ecosystem, but they will not build on its soil.  The ecosystem has had a rough past, but they do not know.

One day, they learned.

They learned something groundbreaking.

Sneakers on a Wire

“Wish I could turn into a squirrel.” “That’s stupid.” “You’re stupid!” said Bobby.  Tim and Bobby were playing catch one day on their street when Tim noticed a pair of sneakers on a wire.  “Why do you want to be a squirrel anyway?” asked Tim, Bobby replied “So I can get those shoes.”  “Well, you would be a squirrel, then you can’t wear the shoes, so it’s a stupid idea still, so there.”  Tim turned to Bobby and stuck his tongue out at Bobby.  “I said turn into a squirrel.  I would be able to turn back.” “Oh… well.” Tim didn’t know how to respond.  Bobby then said. “They were my dad’s shoes.  That’s why I want them.” “How did they get up there?” “He didn’t want them, so he threw them up there.” “Oh.”  Bobby and Tim then just stared at the shoes in their meaningless wonder above the neighborhood street.

Angler

A light in the dark at the end of the tunnel.

A light bulb hung by wire to the head of a creature.

A man that’s a tad fishy.

Baiting his audience to read his stories.

He sits in his chair at his desk at the end of the long tunnel.

Writing legends, myths, and fairly fairy-ish tales.

He draws you all with his light

To ask you for dinner, but not as the meal.

Books should never be judged

Before the pages are read.

Stories bring escape

And the world has much to escape from.

The Angler can show you escape from reality.

Though, reality is no one reads from the angler’s pages.

His audience caught off guard by him and his fables.

If he could say one thing to be heard by all:

“I may be fishy, the stories may be odd,

but I am here and I am determined

to see you, to see everyone

to see the world for once

Smile.”

The Little Broken Boy

The Little Broken Boy.

By Zach Finn

Walking alone.

A little drone.

Boy of flesh and steel.

Born, not built.

Lands covered in silt.

Of which he could not feel

Ever again.

Everyone was an android, short and tall, symmetrical and misshapen.  There was a boy by the name of Christopher with a prosthetic leg and mechanical heart.  He would walk down the street kicking the same can till he reached the end of town.   When he reached the end, he would pick up his can and journey back home to his fathers house.  His mother shut down about a month ago.  Christopher was indifferent about it, for his mechanical heart did not have the ability to convey emotions, no one could.
